š» The honest, behind-the-scenes truth (spoiler: itās not all perfect Instagram moments).
When I hit āpublishā on my very first blog post, I was excited, nervous, and⦠a little clueless. I had no idea where this blogging journey would take me ā or how much Iād learn along the way.
Now, one year in, Iāve experienced the highs, the āwhat am I doing?ā moments, and everything in between. And while Iām still growing and learning every day, there are a few big takeaways from my first year that I wish Iād known sooner.
⨠1. Itās Okay to Start Small
In the beginning, my blog views were⦠letās just say they could fit in a small coffee shop. And thatās okay.Every single big blogger you admire started with zero readers. The key is to keep showing up, keep writing, and trust that your audience will grow over time.
š” 2. Consistency Matters More Than Perfection
At first, I obsessed over making every post perfect. But blogging regularly ā even when things werenāt flawless ā made a much bigger difference in my growth. Your readers would rather have something helpful and heartfelt than wait months for a āperfectā post.
š 3. Tools Make a Difference
Discovering Canva, scheduling tools, and keyword planners completely changed my workflow. You donāt have to invest in everythingĀ right away, but picking the right tools for your needs saves so much time and stress.
šø 4. Visuals Are Everything
I quickly learned that blog posts without strong visuals donāt perform as well. Eye-catching graphics, Pinterest pins, and featured images can bring in traffic you didnāt even know you were missing.
š 5. Blogging is a Long Game
Itās tempting to want instant results, but blogging is like planting a garden. You water it with consistent posts, nurture it with engagement, and eventually, you see it bloom. Some posts might take months to really take off ā and thatās completely normal.
š¬ 6. Building a Community Matters More Than Traffic
Yes, traffic is great, but having real connections with readers is priceless. The emails, comments, and DMs from people saying, āThis helped meā or āI loved this postā mean more than any chart or analytics number.
