✏️ Because staying on top of assignments doesn’t have to be boring.
Homework has a sneaky way of piling up — and before you know it, you’re juggling spelling lists, math worksheets, science projects, and that “surprise” reading log.
Whether you’re a student, a parent helping your child stay organized, or a teacher creating tools for your class, a Weekly Homework Planner is the perfect way to keep everything in check.
And with Canva, you can make one that’s not just functional, but also beautiful — totally customizable to your needs and style.
🖥 Step 1: Open Canva + Choose Your Size
The classic is 8.5x11" (US Letter) because it’s easy to print and fits in binders or folders.
If you’re going digital-only, you can make a tablet-friendly size like 1920x1080 px so it works perfectly in Goodnotes, Notability, or OneNote.
💡 Pro tip: If you want students to reuse the same file every week, create it as a digital PDF that can be typed into.
🎨 Step 2: Choose Your Layout Style
Think about how the week flows:
Horizontal Rows: Days of the week in rows, with subjects across the top.
Vertical Columns: Days in columns for an easy “at a glance” view.
Block Style: Each day gets its own box for flexible note-taking.
Search Canva templates for “homework planner” or “assignment tracker” to get inspiration.
✏️ Step 3: Add Your Headers
Typical sections to include:
Date (or week of)
Subjects (Math, Science, English, etc.)
Assignments
Due Dates
Completed? (check box)
For younger kids, you can also add:
A “Notes for Parents” section
A reward tracker for completing all homework on time
🌈 Step 4: Add Colors and Graphics
This is where you can make it fun!
For younger grades: Bright colors, playful icons, and cartoon-style illustrations.
For older grades: Softer tones, clean lines, and a more minimalist design.
Seasonal themes keep it fresh — think apples in September, snowflakes in January, flowers in April.
💡 Canva’s Elements tab is gold — search for “books,” “pencil,” “school supplies,” or “planner stickers.”
🗂 Step 5: Make It Editable
Want to save time each week? Keep the layout the same, but leave blank text boxes for dates and assignments. That way you can quickly update without redesigning.
For students who prefer typing over handwriting, download the planner as an editable PDF.
📥 Step 6: Download and Use
For printables: Download as PDF Print for the sharpest quality.
For digital journaling: Download as PNG or PDF and upload to your favorite note-taking app.
Print a stack and keep them in a homework folder, or create a digital “Homework Hub” your students can access online.
