Hey, creative friend!
Letās be honest ā content creation can be a lot. Youāve got blog posts to write, reels to film, graphics to design, emails to send⦠and somehow it all needs to feel on brand, on time,Ā and on purpose.
Thatās where the magic of a monthly content calendarĀ comes in. š
A well-thought-out content calendar can help you:
Stay consistent
Reduce stress
Batch your work like a pro
Show up for your audience with confidence
And free up time to focus on what you loveĀ ā creating!
Today, Iām walking you through exactly how to plan out your content for an entire month, and how to use Canva (and a few of my favorite tools) to make the process fun, flexible, and totally doable.Ā Letās get started!
⨠Step 1: Choose Your Platforms
Start by writing down whereĀ you plan to post content. You donāt have to be everywhere ā just consistent somewhere.
Ask yourself:
Where does your audience hang out?
Which platforms do you enjoy creating for?
Common platforms to include:
Instagram (posts, reels, stories)
Pinterest (pins + idea pins)
Facebook
Your blog or website
Email newsletters
Etsy shop updates
š” Bonus Tip: Even if youāre only active on one or two platforms, repurposing content is your secret weapon!Ā Use the same content idea in multiple formats to work smarter, not harder.
š§ Step 2: Brainstorm Your Monthly Themes
Each month, pick 1ā3 core themesĀ to guide your content. This helps you stay focused and relevant.
Examples:
Seasonal ideas (July = summer, 4th of July, back-to-school prep)
Product launches (new digital paper bundle? time to spotlight it!)
Holidays, national days, and awareness weeks
Behind-the-scenes or storytelling content
š» For example, Julyās content at A Rea of TreasuresĀ might include:
Red, white, and blue scrapbook paper previews
Canva tips for designing celebration graphics
DIY printables for summer memory-keeping
šļø Step 3: Use a Monthly Calendar Layout
Now itās time to visualizeĀ your plan.
Use a digital calendar, a printable planner, or a Canva template (psst ā Iāve got some adorable editable ones in my shop!).
For each day of the month, assign a:
Post topic or content idea
Platform it will go on
Content type (carousel, reel, email, pin, etc.)
This doesnāt mean you have to post daily ā it just helps you map out your flowĀ and identify gaps.
š ļø Canva is perfect for this! Create a monthly calendar template, add text boxes, and drag in visuals or icons to make it pop.
šØ Step 4: Batch Create Your Graphics in Canva
Once your calendar is filled in, itās time to create the content itself.
Use Canva to:
Design social media graphics
Create blog post headers
Build email newsletter templates
Repurpose content into different formats

š Step 5: Schedule + Repurpose
Once your content is ready, use a scheduler (like Meta Business Suite, Tailwind, or Canvaās own content planner) to post automatically.
Then repurpose:
Blog post ā Instagram carousel ā Email snippet
Etsy product ā Pinterest pin ā IG reel with behind-the-scenes
Facebook post ā Story ā Carousel
⨠The goal isnāt moreĀ content ā itās smarterĀ content.
