You’ve poured your heart into writing your blog post. You’ve added the photos, edited the text, maybe even brewed a second cup of coffee just to make sure it’s perfect.
But here’s the thing — before you hit that shiny “Publish” button, there are a few must-do steps that can take your post from “nice” to “this is exactly what I needed!” for your readers.
Today, I’m sharing my essential blog post checklists — the ones I personally run through every single time to make sure my content is ready to shine.
✏️ Pre-Publish Checklist
Make sure your post is clear, helpful, and easy to read before it goes live.
✅ Eye-catching, keyword-rich title
✅ Introduction that hooks the reader
✅ Headers and subheaders for easy scanning
✅ Short paragraphs and bullet points for readability
✅ At least one strong call-to-action (join your list, check your shop, etc.)
📸 Visuals & Media Checklist
Strong visuals make people stay longer and share more.
✅ Featured image that matches your brand
✅ Photos optimized for web (so they don’t slow down your site)
✅ Branded Pinterest graphic
✅ Captions or alt text for accessibility and SEO
✅ Images that break up long text sections
🔍 SEO Checklist
A few tweaks can help your post get found by the right people.
✅ Primary keyword in your title, intro, and at least one header
✅ Meta description written with keywords + a hook
✅ Internal links to related posts
✅ External links to high-quality sources
✅ URL slug that’s short and clear
📢 Promotion Checklist
Don’t just post and hope — plan to share it.
✅ Share to Instagram/Facebook with a custom caption
✅ Pin to Pinterest boards (and group boards if you have them)
✅ Send to your email list
✅ Add it to your blog’s “related posts” section
✅ Reshare older posts when relevant
