Turn appreciation into repeat purchases with this easy design hack!
If you're selling on Etsy, running a digital shop, or simply want to add a personal touch to your packaging, a thank-you card with a coupon code is a simple but powerful tool.
And guess what? You can create it all in Canva—even if you’re brand new to design!
In this tutorial, I’ll show you exactly how to add a coupon to your thank-you card using
Canva, step-by-step. Let’s turn that thank-you into a next purchase!
🧰 What You’ll Need:
A free Canva account (Pro is helpful, but not required)
An existing thank-you card template or a blank 5x7 or 4x6 design
A coupon code you’ve set up in your shop (like "THANKYOU15")
✨ Step 1: Open Your Thank You Card Design in Canva
Log into Canva and open the design you want to add your coupon to. If you don’t have one yet:
Click “Create a Design”
Choose 5x7 in (postcard) or 4x6 in
Start with a thank-you card template or design your own with your branding
🖋️ Step 2: Add a Text Box for the Coupon Message
Click Text → Add a Text Box and type your coupon message. Try something like:
💛 Use code THANKYOU15 for 15% off your next purchase! It’s my way of saying thanks for supporting my shop!
Make sure your text is:
Easy to read (bold or script for the code itself works great!)
Sized appropriately for the card
Positioned clearly—bottom center or right side are common spots
🎨 Step 3: Style It to Match Your Brand
Make it feel cohesive with the rest of your card:
Use your brand colors or your shop’s summer palette
Try a decorative box, border, or sticker element to draw attention
Add a dotted or dashed border to mimic a “coupon” look
💡 Canva has “coupon” clipart and frames—try searching “voucher” or “coupon” in Elements!
🔗 Step 4: (Optional) Add a QR Code That Links to Your Shop
Want to make it even easier for customers to redeem their code?
Click Apps → QR Code
Paste in your shop or discount page URL
Canva will generate a scannable code to add right on the card
📱 This works beautifully for physical thank-you cards or digital downloads!
🖨️ Step 5: Download and Print
Once you're done designing:
Click Share → Download
Choose PDF Print for best print quality
Print on premium cardstock or send it as a digital insert with your order
🖨️ Tip: Print multiples on a single sheet using Canva’s “8.5x11 layout” to save paper!
